So you’ve got overexcitabilities…

But you’re having problems finding relevant, easy-to-follow information on the internet, aren’t you? You’ve spent a good portion of your life trying to figure out who you are, and now as an adult, you’ve just found out about this OE thing. You’re compelled to find out more, but it’s not an easy task. I know – I’ve been there too.

My story begins with how I found the theory…

My name is Emma. I accidentally had a life changing moment, when I tried creative writing. It resulted in a completely unexpected session of self-therapy, and a total upheaval in who I thought I was.

In my perplexed daze, I hit the internet for answers….

Dear Google… ‘why does my brain feel like it’s falling apart?’

This led me to the Theory of Positive Disintegration, and overexcitabilities. I cried with relief at finally finding out who I was. I realised why I’d struggled to deal with life, and why I seemed to always be different. Importantly, I felt validated to find there were many others like me wandering the world. Finding Dabrowski changed my life.

The story continues with my mission…

What came after that wasn’t so satisfactory. Trying to find information that wasn’t a gifted education article (for parents of children) or an academic research paper (for psychologists), was a nightmare.

Where were the articles for people like me? Every day adults, with busy lives, and no academic background? I was deflated, but I saw a problem to be solved, and an opportunity to help people.

I’m a business analyst, and so exploring problems and finding solutions is my bread and butter. I’ve had a lot of experience in mapping out processes, and simplifying technical information so it can be easily shared with others. My other personal strengths are that I’m a creative soul, and I have zero cares about sharing all my inner demons if it will help someone else.

I started with a YouTube channel, but soon realised my own journey started with a simple 5 minute read on the internet.  And so, dear reader, this website was born. I’ve now got a podcast in the arsenal, and the wonderful experts it puts me in contact with are a great help – not only towards my own learning journey, but what I can then share with others.

Mostly, I’ve got an un-killable passion for promoting the theory of positive disintegration to help people who are struggling like I was. I want to help people feel supported and understood, and hopefully a little less vulnerable about their place in the world. Now, I have the opportunity to continue this work as Vice President of the Dabrowski Center.

How Can I Help?

I am currently seeking opportunities to do speaking engagements and podcast appearances, to help further spread the word about the theory. Particularly in the mental health space. If you would like to discuss this further, please use the contact form on this website.
